2012 U15 & U16, kick to kick start the season

To kick start the 2012 U15 & U16 season, come down to Westbourne Grammar this Friday, December 9, at 6pm to have a bit of kick to kick, meet the people involved, introduce your mates to the coaches and their new team mates and hear the exciting things that have happened over the off season.

As you may already know, there’s been plenty of hard work done and changes made to build our club for 2012 and beyond so come down and get on board for 2012.

Warriors encouraged to take Blood Oath

Blood Oath is a joint campaign between the TAC and AFL Victoria to prevent young people from being killed or seriously injured in road trauma. Old Westbourne AFC supports this campaign and encourages all players, parents, supporters and friends to take the blood oath. U16s solid win.

Last game was a good warm-up against North Footscray. Another good team performance saw the U16s earn their 2nd win for the season - this time against Wyndhamvale.  Despite being undermanned (only 17 on the field for the last quarter, with a couple NQR) and despite a less than perfect start, the players rallied for a good win.  The most pleasing aspect of the performance was the endeavour to get to the ball, the determined backline and the assistance of players running past for the quick handball.  Our forward line was still too crowded at times and the players need to remember to lead in different directions, but the creativity and body work was pleasing to see. This was an improved opposition to the one the team defeated comfortably a few weeks ago, so it took a good team effort to win the game.  Plenty of things to think about and improve on for future games.  Keep working hard. Well done.
